Vatican newspaper reviews Cardinal Sarah’s new book on Gregorian chant (L’Osservatore Romano (Italian))

The Vatican newspaper published a positive review of a new book on Gregorian chant by Cardinal Robert Sarah, prefect emeritus of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

The reviewer, Francisco de Jesús Maria Espinosa Garay, O.S.B. Oliv., said that “for Sarah, Gregorian chant comes from God, and silence allows for its creation because it springs from silence and leads back to it, to meditation. Indeed, unlike noise or loud music, Gregorian chant draws one inward and brings happiness, happiness ‘in God.’”
