Pope Leo XIV Leaves Gemelli Hospital and Returns to the Vatican

Pope Leo XIV leaves Rome’s Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, after Tuesday’s surgery to remove lung cancer.

The 71-year-old Pope had been admitted last Tuesday and underwent surgery to remove the lower lobe of his right lung.
