At the conclusion of a five-year trial, 15 men were convicted, and nine were acquitted, of participating in the 2019 Sri Lanka Easter bombings, perpetrated by the Islamic State.
The coordinated attacks on three churches and three hotels left 267 dead. The 15 men who were convicted were each sentenced to at least 200 years in prison. All of the suspects at the trial are “members of Sri Lanka’s Muslim minority,” the Associated Press reported.
