A prayer from the Qu’ran was chanted in Arabic during the opening Mass of the academic year at KU Leuven (Catholic University Leuven) in Belgium.
Archbishop Luc Terlinden, the Primate of Belgium, was present in the front row at the Mass, AdVaticanum reported. Professor Martijn Steegen, a layman, preached the homily, despite the Vatican’s recent reaffirmation that only clergy are permitted to preach the homily at Mass.
