Rome – A roundtable discussion on “Religion and Global Social Justice in the 21st Century” is taking place today in Rome from 5:20 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at LUISS Guido Carli University . The event is part of the program of the 9th Annual Conference of the “European Academy of Religion.”
The panel will feature three speakers who will share their reflections on the topic: Archbishop Samuele Sangalli, Adjunct Secretary of the Dicastery for Evangelization and coordinator of the “Sinderesi” School, who will focus his presentation on “Catholic Social Teaching and the Global Horizon of Social Justice”; Professor Anna Alessandra Ciurlo of the Pontifical Gregorian University will address the topic on “Migration, Gender, and Social Justice in Global Catholicism”; while Professor Ambrogio Bongiovanni, Director of the Center for Interreligious Studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University, will speak on “Interreligious Dialogue as a Path to Peace and Justice.”
The European Academy of Religion is a research initiative established under the patronage of the European Parliament to provide a platform for exchange among scholars, universities, research centers, scientific journals, and publishers engaged in the academic study of religion and its relevance to the life of societies.
The Academy seeks to promote research and foster greater understanding of the role of religion in the public sphere.
Among the initiatives through which the Academy pursues its mission is the organization of its annual academic conference.
The 9th Annual Conference is being held in Rome from June 30 to July 3, 2026, at the LUISS Guido Carli University.
The conference program includes study sessions, roundtable discussions, book presentations, and keynote lectures focused on the theme “Religions and Equalities.”
