I spoke the other day with my daughter Shannon, who is a month into her freshman year of college. I expected her to tell me about her first taste of big-time Deep South college football—all about Ole Miss’ huge victory over its rival, LSU. Instead, she told me her university was on lockdown. Two freshmen from the dorm across the street had died the night before.
