ASIA/INDONESIA – Resignation and appointment of bishop of Larantuka

Vatican City – The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the diocese of Larantuka, Indonesia, presented by Bishop Fransiskus Kopong Kung.
The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Yohanes Hans Monteiro, of the clergy of Larantuka, until now lecturer in liturgy at the Ledalero Institute of Philosophy and Creative Technology and formator at the Saint Petrus interdiocesan major seminary in Ritapiret, Indonesia, as bishop of the diocese of Larantuka, Indonesia.
Bishop Yohanes Hans Monteiro was born on 15 April 1971 in Larantuka, Indonesia. After entering the Santo Domingo Minor Seminary of Hokeng, he continued his studies at the Catholic Philosophical Institute of Ledalero, Indonesia, subsequently carrying out a pastoral apprenticeship in the parish of Saint Yoseph in Lewotobi.
He was ordained a priest on 14 July 1999.
After ordination, he first held the role of teacher in the minor seminary of Santo Domingo in Hokeng . He was awarded a licentiate and doctorate in liturgy at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Vienna, Austria , and went on to serve as parish vicar at Franz-von-Assisi-Kirche, Mexikoplatz, and Maria Himmelfahrt in Bad Deutsch-Altenburd, Vienna , teacher of liturgy at the Ledalero Institute of Philosophy and Creative Technology and formator at the Saint Petrus interdiocesan major seminary in Ritapiret, diocese of Maumere , and member of the Commission for the Liturgy of the Indonesian Episcopal Conference .
