AFRICA/NIGERIA – A seminarian kidnapped on July 10 has died from injuries sustained during the attack

Abuja – Emmanuel Alabi, the seminarian kidnapped in Nigeria on July 10 , is reported to have died of starvation and injuries sustained during his abduction.
This was reported by the Chancellor of the Diocese of Auchi, Father Jude Sule Auchi to Fides, who cites the testimony of Joshua Aleobua, the other kidnapped seminarian who was released on November 4 .
“According to information provided by the seminarian who has since been released, Emmanuel, who was injured during the attack on the seminary, felt exhausted during the forced march imposed by his kidnappers and was unable to continue the journey with them,” Father Auchi explained. “As a result, he was left at a specific location. When the kidnappers returned the next day to collect him, they found him dead,” said the Chancellor, who added that the boy’s body has not yet been recovered.
On July 10, a group of armed men attacked the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary in Ivianokpodi, in the Diocese of Auchi, Edo State . After killing a security guard, Christopher Aweneghieme, the gang members captured three young seminarians: Japhet Jesse , Joshua Aleobua , and Emmanuel Alabi, who did not survive the kidnapping.
