If you live in the USA, you might think it necessary to travel to Europe to see a wide variety of classic religious art by the “masters” such as Da Vinci, El Greco, and others. Visitors flock to old world European churches and the Vatican museums to take in their masterpieces, and for good reason.
But did you know that there are museums in the United States that have a large number of classic religious paintings on display, often brought in from Italy, Spain, and elsewhere?
Recently, the Catholic Shop team was at the March For Life where we had a booth to spread the word about our products. The trip gave us a chance to visit the National Gallery in Washington, DC, and we were absolutely stunned by the sheer number and quality of religious paintings on display. Here are a few of the photos we took on this adventure into the beautiful art of the old world.
