600,000 Sign Up for Pope Leo’s Paris Mass As Organizers Expand Route

Volunteers set up religious banners on the Champ de Mars in Paris ahead of World Youth Day in August 1997. More than 600,000 people have registered for Pope Leo XIV’s open-air Mass on the Champs-Élysées on Sept. 26, 2026.

The French bishops’ conference is still short more than 21 million euros to cover the cost of Pope Leo’s Sept. 25–28 visit. Meanwhile, demand for the Paris Mass forced a major expansion of the route.
