Pope Leo XIV appointed Msgr. León Dorado, O.M.I., apostolic prefect of the Western Sahara, as the coadjutor archbishop of Rabat, Morocco. He will succeed Cardinal Cristóbal López Romero, S.D.B., who is 74.
Cardinal López Romero stepped back from his duties in July amid allegations that he sexually assaulted at least five women. The Pontiff then named Msgr. Dorado the apostolic administrator of Rabat.
