Kuwait City – The situation is serious and worsens day by day. Last night, the American Embassy here in Kuwait was hit by a drone; fortunately, there were no casualties. Furthermore, two US military aircraft were shot down. Archbishop Eugene Martin Nugent, Apostolic Nuncio of Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain, told Fides in a commentary regarding the tragic events that have unfolded in the Gulf States since Saturday, February 28 .
Referring to the Nuncio’s words, Bishop Aldo Berardi Aldo Berardi, O.SS.T., Apostolic Vicar of the Vicariate of Northern Arabia, another area severely affected by the bombing, emphasized the importance of prayer and solidarity to all the affected populations. “We are celebrating private Masses for Peace in all parishes of the entire vicariate, including the Co-Cathedral of Kuwait City and the Basilica of Our Lady of Arabia in Ahmadi, the Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary in Qatar, and the Cathedral of Bahrain.”
A statement released by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense stated that a number of U.S. aircraft fell this morning, confirming that their crews were rescued in full. Furthermore, the relevant authorities immediately began search and rescue operations, during which the crews were evacuated and transported to the hospital to ensure their safety and provide the necessary medical care. Direct coordination took place with U.S. forces regarding the circumstances of the incident and the joint technical measures taken. Investigations to determine the causes of the accident are continuing, calling on the public to obtain information from official sources.
