Awali – “At the moment, we don’t know much; we have suspended all activities. I have invited the priests of the Vicariate to gather this evening at 7:00 p.m. local time for a Mass for Peace,” Bishop Aldo Berardi, O.SS.T., Apostolic Vicar of Northern Arabia, which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, told Fides in response to the explosions that occurred today in some areas of Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar following the joint US-Israeli military strike against Iran.
According to local media reports, there is no precise information about the location of the explosion in Bahrain, which is home to the headquarters of the US Central Naval Forces and the US Fifth Fleet. Iranian missiles also attacked the US base in Kuwait.
In his letter, Bishop Berardi calls on all the faithful to remain calm and exercise extreme caution, and asks for their prayers. “In this time of uncertainty,” the bishop says, “I ask all the faithful of the Vicariate to remain calm, to be united in prayer, and to attentive to everyone’s safety.” “I ask that you strictly follow the instructions of the authorities and take all necessary precautions in your homes, workplaces, and parishes,” the Apostolic Vicar emphasizes. “I also instruct all parish priests and rectors to take appropriate measures and make the necessary decisions with prudence and a sense of responsibility to ensure the safety of the faithful entrusted to their care. Let us remain united in faith and charity and pay special attention to the elderly, the sick, and those who are particularly vulnerable. Should any changes to parish activieties become necessary, the official channels will provide information.”
“May the Lord protect us and our families, and may Our Lady of Arabia, our Mother, watch over us all,” Bishop Berardi concluded, addressing his call to prayer to the entire international community.
