ASIA/CHINA – Pilgrims of Hope: Sisters from Shantou visit 94-year-old Bishop Peter Zhuang Jianjian

Shantou – A total of 13 nuns from the Congregation of Mary Queen of All Hearts of the Diocese of Shantou undertook their “Pilgrimage of Hope” on November 14 and 15, visiting the ten Jubilee churches of the diocese. The initiative is part of their Jubilee activities and was carried out with the support and blessing of Bishop Joseph Huang Bingzhang, who arranged for the sisters’ pilgrimage to be accompanied by two priests.

During the two days, the sisters rejoiced in the vibrant pastoral and missionary activity in the parishes they visited, sharing sacred song and prayer with the parish communities.
The most moving moment was the visit to Bishop Emeritus Peter Zhuang Jianjian in the parish of Hepo, where the 94-year-old bishop now lives, having dedicated his life to serving the Church.

Peter Zhuang expressed his profound joy at the sisters’ visit and encouraged everyone to persevere on the path of faith, to accept their vocation with gratitude, and to bear witness to God’s love for all people. Bishop Peter Zhuang officially retired on January 22, 2019.
