Vatican City – The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Rabindra Kumar Ranasingh, of the clergy of the metropolitan archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar, India, until now dean of the Khristo Jyoti Mahavidyalaya in Sason, as auxiliary bishop of the same metropolitan archdiocese, assigning him the titular see of Thuburbo Majus.
Msgr. Rabindra Kumar Ranasingh was born on 9 July 1972 in Kasabasa, in the metropolitan archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar, India. He studied philosophy at the Papal Seminary in Pune and theology at the Khristo Jyoti Mahavidyalaya in Sason. He was awarded a Master of Arts from Berhampur University in Bhanja Bihar, a licentiate in canon law from Saint Peter’s Pontifical Institute in Bangalore, and a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome.
He was ordained a priest on 18 March 2001 for the metropolitan archdiocese of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar.
He has held the following offices: deputy parish priest of Saint Paul Catholic Church in Balliguda , bursar and lecturer at Saint Paul’s Regional Seminary in Padanpur , diocesan director for youth and promoter of vocations , rector of Saint Paul’s Minor Seminary in Balliguda , professor at the Khristo Jyoti Mahavidyalaya in Sason , and to date, dean of the Khristo Jyoti Mahavidyalaya in Sason.
