Estimated 20,000 attend Life Chain
The 2025 Life Chain, held on Sunday, October 5 in most locations, marked the 35th year of this powerful demonstration in Canada. The Life Chain Canada committee used the occasion to launch a new online hub for this event: lifechain.ca.
The number of communities participating in this prayerful public witness to the sanctity of life has now exceeded 375, with Life Chains planted in every province and territory except Nunavut.
Turnout is estimated to have approached or even exceeded 20,000, perhaps boosted by unseasonably warm and sunny weather across much of the country and the example of pro-life conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was murdered less than a month prior. Many local right-to-life groups reported record attendance, including 550 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church in Mississauga, ON; 475 in Kelowna, BC; and nearly 100 in Moose Jaw, SK.
A slight uptick in counter-protests generally did not dampen spirits, with both organizers and participants once again experiencing largely positive responses from passersby.
Mark your calendar for the 2026 Life Chain on Sunday, October 4.
