Beijing – Seminarians of the Diocesan Seminary of Beijing are beginning the new academic year with a focus on spirituality.
At the end of October, seminarians and formators concluded the month, which was also dedicated to mission, with the recitation of the Rosary together.
Regarding the formation programs, an event entitled “Reflection on Artificial Intelligence: A Rational Perspective” offered an opportunity for shared reflection and discernment. The topic was critically examined, taking into account the suggestions of the late Pope Francis, who called for a positive assessment of technological advances when they become tools of love. In the borderless digital world, the seminarians debated: Does “progress” herald the arrival of unlimited freedom or does it lead to new forms of servitude and manipulation? They shared profound reflections on the critical approach necessary to use the tools offered by artificial intelligence with discernment.
On All Saints’ Day, Sister Teresa Li led the seminarians in a meditation on the theme “My Experience of the Encounter with the Lord,” based on Jesus’ invitation to his disciples in the Gospel of Mark: “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while” .
The following day, November 2, the seminarians participated in the solemn Liturgy for the Commemoration of the Dead, presided over by Bishop Joseph Li Shan of Beijing and concelebrated by Coadjutor Bishop Matthew Zhen Xuebin.
