ASIA/LEBANON – National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies appointed

Vatican City – Cardinal Luis Antonio G. Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization , appointed Father Georges El Ters as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies for the next five years on September 29, 2025.
The new National Director was born in 1971 in Hraykes , Lebanon. In 1992, he entered the Congregation of Lebanese Missionaries and made his perpetual vows in 1998. He was ordained a deacon in 1999 and a priest the following year. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theology from the University of Saint Esprit in Kaslik and a Master’s degree in Bioethics from the Pontifical University Regina Apostolorum in Rome . He received his doctorate in Moral Theology and Bioethics from the Alfonsianum in Rome.
He has been and continues to be a professor at several educational institutions, including the Collège de Théologie pour Laïc , the Faculty of Ecclesiastical Sciences at the University of La Sagesse, the Institute of Family at the University of La Sagesse, the Faculty of Religious Sciences at the University of Antonine , the Faculty of Public Health at the University of La Sagesse, and the University of Dominicaine.
Within his congregation, he served as General Councillor ; Director of the Kreim Institute of Theology ; and Founder and Director of the Kreim Institute of Bioetic Science. He is the author of several publications.
