OCEANIA/SOLOMON ISLANDS – Appointment of bishop of Auki

Vatican City The Holy Father has appointed the Reverend Fr. Jacob Aba, S.M., until now parish priest of the Holy Name of Mary in Tanaghai, Honiara.
Msgr. Jacob Aba, S.M., was born on 6 January 1976 in Matanganakafo, on the Island of Laita, Solomon Islands. He studied philosophy and theology at the Catholic Theological Institute of Bomana, Port Moresby.
After entering the Society of Mary and giving his religious vows in 2004, he was ordained a priest on 10 December 2009.
Following ordination, he first held the roles of parish vicar in Tanaghai and parish priest of Wainoni, Makira . He was awarded a diploma in Human Development, Leadership, Formation and Community Building at Saint Anselm’s Catholic School in Kent, Great Britain , and went on to serve as formator of the Marist College of Suva , assistant for the formation of the Marist Novitiate in the Philippines , director of the Marist Farm, chaplain of RTC , and from 2023 to the present, parish priest of Holy Name of Mary in Tanaghai and member of the Provincial Council of the Society of Mary.
