Maumere – A significant milestone in the 16-year history of the Camillian mission in Indonesia was the recent ordination of four new priests at the St. Camillus Seminary in Maumere. The ceremony took place on October 19 and was the second ordination this year, following the five already ordained on January 19 .
“In addition to vocational accompaniment and formation in four seminaries,” writes the Italian Camillian missionary, Father Luigi Galvani, in a report to Fides, “we are active in the apostolic field through two social centers and some hospital chaplaincies, bringing comfort and assistance to the sick and needy, in accordance with the charism of our founder, Saint Camillus de Lellis.” “In recent years,” the priest continues, “the Camillian delegation in Indonesia has also broadened its missionary horizons, looking with confidence to Pakistan and East Timor, and has already sent some religious brothers to Taiwan and Australia, in line with the Founder’s dream: to see the Institute spread to other countries around the world to serve the sick and the poor.” Currently, the delegation includes 24 local priests, 30 religious with temporary vows, 11 novices, and about 50 seminarians engaged in formation.
